More about the artist:
Working in natural media like watercolor and pen & ink - along with the occasional Photoshop, Jenna has a soft spot for heritage crafts, patterns, and vintage print ephemera. She loves to create work about food, horticulture, and the environment.
Growing up amongst the rolling plains of eastern Montana, she later graduated from the University of Oregon, in Eugene, where she received a Bachelor of Fine arts Degree in printmaking. She also studied in the Atelier method, in Florence, Italy, and studied at the University of Minnesota, Morris during her time in college.
When not painting, some of her favorite things to do are: garden, rock climb, hang out with her sweet blind greyhound dog, and read (before she was an illustrator, Jenna was a freelance arts journalist - click here to see a select archive of her writings).
Jenna also has a passion for environmental education & ethnobotany. She has a Home Horticulture Certification from Oregon State University. She is a board member of the non-profit the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild - yes, such a thing exists- and she is a certified “Naturalist” (through the excellent Oregon Naturalist program at Oregon State University). Lastly, she is working towards getting her yard certified in the Backyard Habitat Program!
She is a member of the following artist communities: the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI) and the Portland-based illustrator’s collective Artists Off the Page.
